DescriptionBritish and Irish Association for Jewish Studies annual conference: Jews, Gender, and Sexuality This is the annual conference for the British and Irish Association for Jewish Studies. This year's theme is Jews, Gender, and Sexuality. Conference fees cover the cost of attendance, coffees, vegetarian refreshments, and lunches (x3). The fees are lower for members; we strongly encourage you to become members of BIAJS! More InformationMembership: please see our Membership page and contact the Membership Secretary, Dr Hannah Ewence ([email protected]) by email. Your application will be considered by at least two Committee members. Costs: § Ordinary Members: open to scholars concerned with the academic pursuit of Jewish Studies. Ordinary members are entitled to vote at meetings and are eligible for membership of the Committee and for Office. – £40.00 § Student/Retired Members – £15.00 § Associate Members: open to (a) those outside the UK/Ireland who have a serious academic interest in Jewish Studies, and (b) those within the UK/Ireland with a serious academic interest in Jewish Studies who are not professionally involved in the subject. No voting rights. – £25.00 Other activities: 1. Film screening of “Husband” and Q&A with filmmakers Devorah Baum and Josh Appignanesi (free for conference attendees but must register) 2. Monday lunch will include a special guest. It will be free but must be booked through Eventbrite. Tickets will be checked. 3. Jewish walking tour of Bristol (free for conference attendees but must register — limited to 20 participants) 4. Tues pm/eve Mizrahi hands-on cooking session/light dinner with UWE anthropologist Dr Michal Nahman at Coexist Community Kitchen (£30/person, limited to 12 participants) |
