This service is only available to students in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law. You can only request a Certification Letter for yourself. Please do not request documents on behalf of other students.

A certification letter confirms your status as a current/former student of the University of Bristol. You might use provide this letter to a potential employer or when applying for a Shengen visa. The letter will include:
- your official name;
- your student number;
- your date of birth;
- the name of your Faculty;
- your programme title;
- the start and end dates of your programme;
- our staff signature;
- our official stamp;
- our fax and telephone number;
- if you are a current student, the letter will also state your home and term address and expected graduation;
- If you require the certification letter to state your classification please request this on the online form where it asks for "Any additional information."

Letters are only available in hard copy. They cannot be sent electronically. Where possible, we will try to accommodate requests for additional information to be included in certification letters.

Letters take 3 working days to produce (except during busy periods). They are processed in the order they are received therefore you should ensure you submit your request in plenty of time to meet any deadlines you have been given. You will receive an email when the letter(s) is available.

The Certification letter will include your Term and Home Address therefore you should check these are up-to-date in StudentInfo (www.bristol.ac.uk/studentinfo) before requesting.
