Drawing in the Glasshouses with Sheena Vallely and Pupgroup - Oct-Dec 2017

Description

There is no better place to be than in the glasshouses of Bristol Botanical Garden at this time of year, where colour, form and fragrance fill each climate zone from a diverse selection of plants from around the world. The act of drawing in this environment can enhance this immersive experience. Encouragement and instruction will be given to the group and individually each day, with specific exercises to improve your observation and your perception. The course is for all abilities and all materials are provided.

Sheena Vallely trained at Liverpool College of Art and at Camberwell College of Arts, London. Sheena exhibits her work nationally and internationally. An introduction to the exciting world of propagating plants. The tutor Julie Henderson will guide you through the various methods of creating new plants. including taking cuttings and sowing seeds. From collecting material, through to aftercare, with a chance for some hands-on practice. Participants should bring a pair of gardening gloves and wear warm/comfortable clothing.

How to Shoot Summer Pictures photography workshop

Description

A not to be missed opportunity for a small group interested in plant and garden photography to spend a day working with a professional photographer, Graham Parish. Join Graham for a guided walk around the Botanic Garden to identify summer highlights followed by the opportunity to capture your own images with guidance from the tutor. The day will conclude with an informal, friendly discussion of your selected images and a chance to ask questions.

Anyone wishing to improve their digital outdoor photography should benefit from this day. An understanding of the basics of photography would be an advantage. You will need to know the basic functions of your camera.
