Brut in Bristol 2024

Description

The Centre for Medieval Studies at Bristol is delighted to invite you to the International Brut Conference 2024, ‘Brut in Bristol’.

Join us for a jam-packed programme of papers from international Brut scholars covering medieval and Early Modern languages and literatures, and art, book, cultural, intellectual, political, and religious history.

We are honoured to be joined by Professor Julia Marvin (Notre Dame) as plenary speaker. Professor Marvin’s keynote lecture will take place 4-5pm on Thursday 27th June and will be immediately followed by a drinks reception.

Friday will conclude with a walking tour of medieval Bristol led by Professor. Evan Jones. After working up an appetite traversing the old city, Evan will lead us to our dinner at Zerodegrees at 7.30pm. Please purchase this as an additional item during the conference registration process. A £5 deposit is required.

The conference will conclude with an interview with Sunday Times Bestselling Author of Storyland and Wild, Amy Jeffs.

Registration will be open from 1-2pm on Thursday, with the first session starting at 2pm. Refreshments will be provided on both days of the conference, and lunch is available to purchase at the onsite café Santiago’s.
